The Didik Nini Thowok Foundation was established on the first of October 1994. Art and culture are monumental human achievements that deserve to be consciously preserved and developed. The arts and culture is autonomous, unbiased against status, ethnicity, tribe or religion. Arts and culture deserve a special place in the hearts of the public, and art and culture should not be exploited by special interest groups for their own purposes. It is with the sincerest hope that the arts and culture will be able to maintain the balance between the soul, the spirit and the body to overcome the multifaceted crises that have wreaked havoc on the collective mind and spirit of cooperation and to ultimately create a more peaceful society.
